Lynette Spence

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve at Lakeside Baptist Church.  I have met and been welcomed by some wonderful people and look forward to being a part of the ministry of Lakeside.

I was raised in a Christian home and was drawn to God at a young age.  Growing up in the Methodist Church I accepted Christ as my Savior at age 14 during a Lay Witness Mission Weekend at our Church.  My spiritual growth continues as a result of seeking and trusting God through all of life’s challenges that have come my way.  I have served in various capacities in the Church through singing, playing the piano, teaching Sunday School, facilitating Bible Studies, traveling to the Ukraine on a Mission Trip in 2001, being a part of the Youth Mission Trip, Words to Works, in 2010 to Jacksonville, FL.

My secretarial career began in 1975 at Southern States Cooperative, Central Office, 7th & Main St., Richmond.  Since then I have done secretarial/bookkeeping work at Mitchell, Wiggins Accounting, Nelsen Funeral Home, George Watkins Elementary School, and James City Community Church, my church home.

I live in Providence Forge, New Kent County with Rocket, my yorkie; Sylvester, my black/white kitty and Sassy, my blue tick hound and live 3 miles from my son Jordan and his wife Ashley and 5 grandchildren,  Darrius & Brice age 7, Trevor age 4, Bentley age 23 months, and Abigail age 5 months.

I enjoy reading, knitting, walking, bike riding, traveling, shopping, spending time with family and friends.

These are a few of my favorite Bible verses:
And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.        Deuteronomy 6:5

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,  and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles;  they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.[a]   Proverbs 3

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.                        2 Timothy 1:7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  Philippians 4:6
